Bunker Hills Regional Park gives a family day its shape. A vehicle permit costs $7 a day or $30 a year, and the grounds hold a playground, picnic pavilions, a nature play area, disc golf, walking and biking trails and an Augmented Reality Trail.
Kelsey Round Lake Park, the stables, the archery range and the Community Center fill out the rest of a family weekend, indoors and out. Here is what to know about each.
A day at Bunker Hills
A park morning starts with the permit, and the rest is on foot or on a bike. Bunker Hills Regional Park runs an Augmented Reality Trail alongside its playground, nature play area, pavilions and disc golf, and its trails suit walking and biking.
Archery costs $5 a visit and runs March to November, a separate ticket from the vehicle permit.
Camping stretches the trip past one day. Bunker Hills Campground takes 2027 reservations from March 1, 2027 at 8 am, with rustic sites from $30 and camper cabins up to $85.
Kelsey Round Lake Park is the quieter alternative, with about 150 acres of trails and natural area and parking on site.
- Ask whether the $30 annual permit covers a second vehicle.
- Check the archery season dates against the week you plan to visit.
- Reserve a picnic pavilion before a summer weekend.
- Book a rustic site or a camper cabin ahead of March 1, 2027.
Stables and the water park
Bunker Beach Water Park is shut for the season and its 2027 dates aren't posted, so a swimming day isn't on the table right now.
Bunker Park Stables charges $55 a person for trail rides and from $120 for hay and sleigh rides. Book 24 hours ahead on 763-757-9445, and note the stables are closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Set those rates against the park's own prices: $5 for archery and $7 for a day permit, or $30 for the year.
- Ask what a first trail ride covers before you book a rider.
- Compare $55 a person with the $120 starting price for a hay ride.
- Check the Monday and Tuesday closure against your date.
- Book by phone 24 hours ahead on 763-757-9445.

On the YMCA side there is an indoor pool with a slide, a lap pool and a fitness center, reached on 763-230-9622.
For a picnic at a pavilion, Festival Foods at 2218 Bunker Lake Blvd NW is the grocery stop on the way.
Compare the $7 day permit with a $55 trail ride before you commit a Saturday, and call 763-757-9445 a day ahead for the stables.
