Before choosing a child care center in Andover, Minnesota, ask how ages are grouped and what the staff-to-child ratios are for each group. Ask what qualifications and background checks caregivers must have, and how the center handles licensing and inspection records. Request details on the daily curriculum and schedule, including how much time is given to structured learning, free play, meals, naps and outdoor activity. Ask how the center communicates with families about a child's day and developmental progress. Clarify policies for illness, allergies, medication, emergencies and behavior guidance, and ask to see the spaces where children spend their time during a tour. Ask whether the center serves your child's age range and how it handles a child's first days and moves between age groups. Ask how it supports children with different needs and what happens when a child needs extra help. During a tour, observe the setting and the interactions between caregivers and children, then ask follow-up questions about anything that matters for your family.
