Schroeder Homeworks

Based in Andover, Minnesota, at 15328 Linnet St NW, Schroeder Homeworks is a general contractor whose work covers basements, kitchens and main floors, master baths, additions, and Trex decks. The project range also takes in a garage bar. Most of that work happens inside an existing house, where new walls, flooring, cabinetry, and fixtures have to meet what is already there, and where an addition or a finished lower level has to tie into the structure, roofline, and mechanical systems of the original building. Because the scope crosses several trades, the useful questions for a homeowner start with how the work is organized. Ask who pulls the building permit and who meets the inspector, since basements, additions, and bathrooms each trigger different inspections at different stages. Ask whether framing, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC are handled by the company's own crew or by licensed subcontractors, and who supervises those trades on site. For kitchen and bath projects, ask how the schedule is sequenced so the room is out of service for as short a time as possible, and whether any temporary arrangements are made while it is. Before signing, request a written scope of work plus drawings or sketches, and ask how change orders are priced and documented once work begins. Ask which Trex product line and fastening system is specified for a deck, since the boards and the substructure details affect both cost and maintenance.
